Going up the slopes of Mount Etna you will be able to observe different lava fronts: ancient lava flows up to the most recent ones linked to the eruptions of 1991/93.
During the trip to Etna, accompanied by expert guides, you will cross changing landscapes and discover the characteristics of these places of great geological and natural interest.
You will arrive near the Sapienza refuge.
Located at an altitude of 2000 meters, the Sapienza refuge is the starting point of the Etna cable car.
Accompanied by our guides, you will begin the ascent of Etna by cable car up to an altitude of 2500 meters first, and then by off-road vehicle with 28 seats up to the Etna summit area at 2920mt.
Arrived at an altitude of 2920 meters, accompanied by volcanological guides, we will make a light excursion around the Bove valley. The summit craters tour includes the exploration of a lava cave. A unique opportunity to discover the secrets of the volcano and learn interesting volcanological and naturalistic knowledge (Helmets and torch will be provided free of charge).

Dear Customer, we inform you that every Sunday in October our tours on the Etna volcano will undergo some changes both in the departure time, route and in the itinerary. The tasting in Zafferana etnea will not be carried out due to a Gastronomic event that does not allow the regular transit within the municipality of Zafferana etnea . The tour will be regularly active with the utmost safety and transparency. We apologize for the inconvenience.

In the winter season and/or in case of adverse weather conditions, the Company Funivia dell’Etna reserves the right to cancel the excursion or part of its. The excursion will be taken at lower altitude.
In some periods of the year (December – April), the cost of the Additional charge of the Etna summit craters 3000 mt tour may vary, in relation to heavy snowfall.
In case of adverse weather conditions (windy /snowy weather) at high altitudes, the Etna summit craters tour could not be carried out for the closure of the Company “Funivia dell’Etna”.
In the winter/ snowy season, The Company “Funivia dell’Etna”, that manages the ascend up to 3000 meters, may reserve the use of the snowcat, with different prices compared to the ones shown on the website.
Supplement to be paid in cash on the morning of the excursion for possible use of the snowcat at the discretion of the Funivia Etna company €25 per person.
Excursions may be subject to change or interrupted due to weather, volcanological conditions, or prefectural ordinances, at the discretion of the guide and the organization.
It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes such as sports shoes suitable for stony terrain, long pants, a jacket in case of wind in summer. In winter, it is recommended to wear clothes suitable for cold weather: boots, hat, sweatshirt, etc.
Spring, Summer:
We suggest to wear sturdy shoes as sneakers and wear long trousers and bring a jacket in case of cold windy weather.
Autumn, Winter:
We suggest to wear trekking shoes, wear long trousers, Warm Jackets, Hat and gloves.
