Trekking Itinerary Nature reserve oriented to the Faunistic Oasis of Vendicari

The excursion for those who love nature and the sea, exploring one of the most beautiful areas of eastern Sicily.
Vendicari is a reserve located south of the eastern coast of Sicily. It is an enchanting place for sighting birds, for the numerous plant species, but also for the Sveva tower and the tonnara with the fishermen’s houses dating back to the seventeenth century.

The Sveva tower is also known as the castle of Vendicari, dominated by the smokestack of the trap where once, until 1943, the tuna fishing activity was rich and flourishing. The territory has been the subject of other activities in the past, such as: the collection of salt, which was used to preserve the fish.

The itinerary includes a visit to the reserve through stalking along the three marshes inside, and arriving at the splendid beach of Calamosche
