Pantalica Nature Reserve itinerary along the Anapo river.

The Anapo Valley, crossed by the river of the same name, is accessible from two gates connected to each other. Partly declared a Nature Reserve, it offers nature and archeology to the hiker in an evocative setting in which vegetation with shrubs predominates and in the valley floor there are oriental plane trees.

The route winds along a path consisting of an ancient route of the Syracuse-Ragusa-Vizzini railway.
In the midst of oriental plane trees, willows and oleanders that grow between the cracks in the rock, the Anapo flows along small beaches.
The rocky plateau cut by the river is riddled with 5000 cave tombs.

The protected area of ​​Pantalica-Valle dell’Anapo is a small historical-naturalistic jewel; here, in fact, the extraordinary natural environment merges with the historical-archaeological one linked to the spectacular necropolis, the largest center of the late Bronze Age in eastern Sicily.
